Chihuly Garden and Glass Wedding, Seattle WA | Rory & Gary

All these spring bursts of color - vibrant orange and reds, saturated purples - got me thinking back on Rory and Gary’s wedding last July at the Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle. If you’re not familiar with Chihuly’s glass sculptures, head to Seattle check it out and take a ride to the top of the Space Needle while you’re there! The rich colors, repetitive form and large scale sculptures are totally overwhelming and awe inspiring in the best way! Or better yet, book the Chihuly Garden and Glass for your wedding venue and take your guests on a museum tour for cocktail hour. That’s what these two cuties did.

Working with Gather Events is always a dream and the vision for this wedding was modern and fresh! It was such a fun challenge to design flowers that wouldn’t either compete with or go unnoticed in a space that’s already got such a strong and vibrant presence. Rory and Gary wanted to keep the palette classy and elegant, with rich florals to tone down the bright glass and create an intimate space under the imposing artworks.

Mid summer flowers like garden roses, chocolate cosmos, foxglove, rudbeckia, sweet peas, larkspur and textural grasses mimicked the playful shapes of the glass artworks. Deep purple, black and burnt orange linens accented the table flowers and transitioned the party from daylight to dusk. This pretty party was captured by the talented Matthew Land Photography.

Are you planning a wedding? Think about your venue and ways you can make the flowers most impactful in the space. You don’t need a room full of flowers to make a statement!
